The Shard

The Shard. Mixed Media. 2″x2″.
For scale. Teeny tiny art.

I love London. Well, that’s an understatement. I think London is as complex as people are and it is the center of the universe. Within the confines of what is known as Greater London is a microcosm, an explosion, of sheer unadulterated and pure life. It is by no means perfect, don’t misunderstand me, it is beautiful and raw and wrong and altogether right. People work hard jobs in construction, as baristas, as bankers, as receptionists, and as artists. They keep their heads down as they walk into tube stations and they weave through crowds of total strangers. And every so often you walk into a room of total strangers, unsuspecting people, and you enjoy a soft evening with them. You have a pint and read a book or watch someone make you laugh or take lessons on playing the ukulele. And these gorgeous and beautiful moments couldn’t be recreated in any other place. London is held together by these small and beautiful moments.
